"Old Blue Eyes" is considered to be the greatest entertainer of the twentieth century. He wanted to be a newspaper journalist and worked as a sports reporter. His first professional job as an entertainer was for $25 per week as a singer, head waiter, master of ceremonies, and a comedian at a country roadhouse in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. He was discovered by Harry James in 1939, who signed him to sing for his new swing band.
After touring with James, Sinatra became famous as the lead singer with Tommy Dorsey's orchestra. In 1943 he started working alone and soon became a teen idol. He went through a career crisis in the late 1940s when he lost his voice and was getting a divorce, but came back in 1950s to win an Academy Award for 'Here to Eternity". Considered a natural actor, he made a long string of successful films besides continuing to record. He and his first wife Nancy had three children. After their divorce, he was married to Ava Gardner, Mia Farrow and Barbara Marx. His last concert performance was in 1994 at the age of 74. He's buried at Desert Memorial Park, Cathedral City, California.
