3/4 cup butter, softened 1 1/2 cups sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp almond extract 3 cups flour 1 1/4 tsp baking powder 3/4 tsp salt 5 rolls of LifeSavers candy DIRECTIONS Cream the butter and sugar together. Add the eggs and almond extract and beat until fluffy. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Blend the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture. Cover the bowl with aluminum foil and refrigerate for an hour. Roll out the dough 1/8" thick on a lightly floured surface and cut out cookies in any shape desired. After cookies are cut out, go back and cut a 1" hole in the center of each cookie. Place the cookies on a foil lined cookie sheet and put one piece of candy in the center hole of each cookie. Bake at 375 degrees for 6 to 8 minutes until the cookies are brown and the candy has melted. Slide the foil off of the cookie sheet. Wait until the cookies have cooled before peeling them off of the foil. Makes 5 Dozen Cookies ENJOY! |
